Obituary for Dwight Boozer

Dwight Boozer
A celebration of life for James Dwight Boozer of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:30pm, Sunday, August 26 at Cypress St. Church of God, 1401 Cypress St. West Monroe.
James Dwight Boozer entered this early life on November 8, 1945, and left it on August 5, 2018 at the age of 72 years old.

He was greeted in glory by those who had gone before him: his parents, two brothers, and three grandchildren. Those family members who remain and feel his loss are numerous: his first wife, Nancy; two daughters, Nanette and husband, Rick; Dionne and husband Andrew; Joshua and wife Jennifer, seven grandchildren who loved their Papa very much. They are (in birth order) Ethan, Isaiah, Andrew, Naomi, Bella, Eli, and Drake.
He is also survived by his sister, Claudia and brother, Thomas, and many nieces and nephews, also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

After graduating from high school in Nashville, Arkansas, Dwight attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas where he met Nancy Ann Morgan. They were married in November of 1968 after Dwight proposed on an unforgettable night in March under a full moon at the Bleachers of Love Park in Houston. It was a date Dwight remembered every March, and it was the beginning of 50 years together.
James Dwight was a pastor, a salesman, a radio broadcaster, an Air Force man, a truck driver, a business owner, and man who brought joy and compassion to every person he met.

Above all, he was a man of God, and a family man. Those were his two greatest passions.
All of his actions every single day were based on his desire to serve God and to care for his family.
He was a private man, but he brought joy to those he knew through his energetic humor and his desire to make people laugh. He loved to tell stories, eat out, sing hymns around the piano, do Elvis impersonations with his guitar, talk with kids about the scriptures, work with his hands, and serve others. His heart, like his faith was strong. We will miss his laughs, his hugs, and his gentle spirit.
