Mary Eloise Towns Barham
Mary Eloise Towns Barham was born 1928 in Litroe, Louisiana, and died Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Monroe, LA at the age of 89. She was the 3rd child and only daughter of Mary Estelle Vines and Oliver Dennis Towns (aka Ollie). She was given her mother’s first name, Mary, and was known to all as Eloise.
Eloise graduated from Marion High School and attended business college in Monroe. She went to work for International Paper Company in Bastrop, Louisiana where she met the love of her life, Emmett Mott Barham, and they were married 46 years. They moved from Bastrop to Monroe, Louisiana in 1986.
Eloise is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Mott Barham, and her older brothers, Oliver Elton Towns and Dennis Clinton Towns.
She is survived by her two children: Emmett Barham and Donna Barham; Daughter-in Law, Kay Barham; four grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Barham, Joshua Mott Barham, Anna Barham Saterfiel (husband - Jared) and Gardner Emmett Barham; brother Leonard Vines Towns and wife Josephine Reppond Towns; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special and dear friends Angela Jones and Kalan Albritton.
Eloise was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She spent her time with her grandchildren and her talent of flower arranging and judging. She participated in many flower shows and symposiums throughout Louisiana and surrounding states. She earned the title of Master Flower Show Judge as well as numerous flower arranging awards. She was a member of College Heights, Monroe and Bayou DeSiard Garden Clubs, and Northeast Louisiana Rose Society.
Our family extends our special heartfelt thanks to the St. Joseph Nursing Home 2 North staff for providing friendship and care for our Mother. Lauren Walker, niece and St. Joseph Hospice nurse --- there are no words to express our gratitude for the care and love that you gave our Mother.
Pallbearers will be nephews Oliver Dennis Towns Sr., Travis Towns, Richard Towns, Tony Murry, Elton Pardue, and special friend Kalan Albritton.
Visitation will be at Parkview Baptist Church 10:00am Saturday, April 7, 2018, with services officiated by Rev. Terry Barnes at 11 am.
Graveside Services will follow at the Union Cemetery in Sadie, Louisiana, officiated by Rev. Terry Barnes and Rev. Lanny Turner.
